  • Charity footballers ’slow to pay’. Some Premiership footballers pledged to donate a days wages to a Nurses Charity. In total £750,000 was pledged but only £200,000 has been collected. I hope that this is just forgetfulness on the footballers part. You would have thought that if you earned thousands a week you’d be able to part with some of it for a good cause.
  • More post strikes are on the way. “CWU’s David Ward described Royal Mail’s work practices as like ’slavery’”. It’s unlikely that the Communication Workers Union is going to generate much sympathy drawing up that kind of comparison.
  • XKCD of the day.
  • The coolest Mashup I’ve seen in a long time. Using Google News as a source it generates a page displaying the news in blocks of colour.
  • Reading’s Twin Towers. This is a ridiculous scheme to build tower blocks in the centre of Reading. I fear that they will remain empty and will be an eye-sore.

McDonalds offering free WiFi

October 8th, 2007
  • McDonalds will be offering free WiFi in selected stores. So parents can surf the internet whilst watching their little darlings get fat. Bless.
Shops such as Starbucks have been offering free WiFi for a while now. An action which is traditionally done to target social-business demographic could this be a move by McDonalds to target youngsters with WiFi laptops?
It seems to be strange that a fast-food outlet, normally focused on getting customers in and out of the doors as quickly as possible is tempting customers to stay a little longer.

I didn’t believe the travel planner..

October 3rd, 2007

I managed to arrive half an hour later than I planned… I arrived at FOWA just after the first speeches started.

I hate travelling on the tube at rush hour, It makes you feel like you’re stuck in a tin can.

Britney and FOWA (no relationship)

October 2nd, 2007
  • Britney Spears loses custody of children. Does anybody else feel sorry for Britney Spears? It must be tough earning millions… I do wonder how someone so successful can fall from grace so quickly. I doubt it will be long before she’s topping the charts again. Perhaps with a single about how somebody took her baby away…
  • I’m off the Future Of Webapps tomorrow. I created this blog with the main purpose of being able to write things there on the fly, as opposed to waiting for the ‘boss’ to approve blogs on the work site.

I must remember to do a proper post…

After about 2 years not blogging I decided I would give it a go.

Sorry about the default Wordpress theme, I’ll upload my own this weekend.
