  • Charity footballers ’slow to pay’. Some Premiership footballers pledged to donate a days wages to a Nurses Charity. In total £750,000 was pledged but only £200,000 has been collected. I hope that this is just forgetfulness on the footballers part. You would have thought that if you earned thousands a week you’d be able to part with some of it for a good cause.
  • More post strikes are on the way. “CWU’s David Ward described Royal Mail’s work practices as like ’slavery’”. It’s unlikely that the Communication Workers Union is going to generate much sympathy drawing up that kind of comparison.
  • XKCD of the day.
  • The coolest Mashup I’ve seen in a long time. Using Google News as a source it generates a page displaying the news in blocks of colour.
  • Reading’s Twin Towers. This is a ridiculous scheme to build tower blocks in the centre of Reading. I fear that they will remain empty and will be an eye-sore.
